The first Maximo Park song I heard was called “apply some rressure” and I remember thinking “Who is this? This is f*&ckin awesome!”
I immediately went out and got the album, a Certain Trigger. At first I thought the rest of the songs on the album were not up to the standard of “apply some pressure” but I kept on listening to it over and over and over again. Maybe I have just gone a bit deaf, but I absolutely love the band now, and have purchased all of their albums.
They are definitely one of those bands that grow on you, and while of few of the songs do instantly stand out, most take time for you to truly start enjoying them. But when you do, you are never going to look back.
